Verosoft supported a Microsoft partner with hands-on EAM expertise to deliver scalable, preventive maintenance on Dynamics 365 Business Central.

What you will learn in this article

  • How Microsoft partners can support complex, asset-intensive operations using enterprise EAM on Dynamics 365 Business Central

  • Why hands-on, on-site support can reduce risk and improve adoption during large-scale EAM deployments (2,000 users)

  • How preventive maintenance programs can be standardized across multiple divisions and asset types (e.g. trucks, aircrafts, facilities, vessels and power plants)

  • What role SaaS vendors like Verosoft play in helping partners avoid workarounds and long-term technical debt

  • Key lessons Microsoft partners can apply when delivering EAM projects in remote or operationally demanding environments

Managing enterprise assets in a complex, remote operating environment

Semirara Island is one of the most operationally complex energy sites in the Philippines. Home to the country’s largest coal producer and a vertically integrated power operation run by Semirara Mining and Power Corporation (SMPC), the island functions as a self-contained ecosystem.

Mining operations run around the clock. Power plants support both industrial activity and daily life. More than 700 heavy vehicles move continuously alongside critical infrastructure such as an airport, a hospital, housing, police services, and environmental protection facilities.

Every one of these assets requires maintenance. And because the island is remote, downtime, safety incidents, or coordination gaps can have immediate consequences. There is little room for error when operations cannot pause or outsource support.

Scaling enterprise asset management on Microsoft Business Central

To manage this level of complexity, SMPC needed more than just maintenance checklists or reactive repairs. Preventive maintenance had to be planned, executed, and tracked consistently across mining and power divisions, with clear visibility into resources, costs, and safety requirements.

PASI, one of the Philippines’ leading Microsoft partners, led the enterprise asset management (EAM) implementation as part of SMPC’s broader transition from legacy, on-premises systems to a cloud-based platform. With decades of experience delivering large ERP and operational systems, PASI understood that this project would require more than their standard rollout.

As PASI worked with SMPC to assess their existing setup, several limitations became clear. Previous solutions required heavy customization, lacked strong asset hierarchies, and made it difficult to standardize work orders and maintenance planning across teams. At the scale SMPC operates, those gaps created real risk for long-term adoption and growth.

René Santos, President and CEO of PASI, described the challenge as balancing the need for enterprise-grade asset management with the reality of systems that required heavy customization that could not scale with SMPC’s operation:

“Semirara needed a full enterprise asset management system. They are a mining company and a power plant, so preventive maintenance is critical. What we had before required too much customization, and even then, we didn’t have the structure we needed for work orders, asset hierarchies, and long-term scalability.”

This is where Verosoft and TAG Mobi EAM came in.

Hands-on EAM support for Microsoft partners

SMPC required advanced EAM capabilities like Health & Safety and Advanced Resource Management rolled out across both mining and power plant divisions. For PASI, delivering this successfully meant ensuring that TAG Mobi reflected real maintenance workflows, not just theoretical best practices.

To support PASI during the critical early phase of the rollout, Verosoft consultants, Benjamin Brousseau and Frédérick Cléroux, traveled from Canada all the way to the Philippines to work directly alongside the PASI team on site.

Over the course of their visit, they delivered more than 20 hours of structured TAG Mobi training, conducted site walk-throughs with maintenance teams, and worked directly with users to answer questions. Because Benjamin and Frédérick were on-site, issues that might normally have been deferred were addressed immediately, and in several cases, screens and workflows were adjusted in real time during training sessions.

A Microsoft partnership built on presence and trust

For PASI, having Verosoft consultants on the ground made a real difference. Rene described how much that presence mattered during the deployment:

“One of the best things about this project was the support we received. When Benjamin and Frédérick were on site, they really took the time to understand what Semirara would need, both now and as the system grows. They told us, ‘Don’t do a workaround. We’ll adjust it properly and fit it to their operation.’ That approach made a big difference.”

Beyond the technical support, the project reinforced the strength of the partnership between PASI and Verosoft. By combining PASI’s local implementation leadership with Verosoft’s hands-on EAM expertise, the teams were able to work as a single unit, making decisions quickly, avoiding shortcuts, and building a solution designed to scale with confidence.

Building a scalable, enterprise-ready preventive maintenance foundation on Business Central

With Verosoft working alongside PASI during the early stages of the deployment, the project established a solid foundation for long-term success. Direct access to EAM product expertise helped accelerate decision-making, reduce uncertainty, and ensure the system was aligned with real maintenance operations from the start. As a result:

  • Preventive maintenance workflows were standardized across divisions

  • Users gained clearer visibility into planning logic and cost drivers

  • Adoption improved through on-site training and real-time configuration changes

  • The solution was designed to scale across business units and subsidiaries

The deployment reinforced key lessons for large-scale EAM initiatives:

  • Early, in-person support reduces long-term implementation risk

  • Hands-on product expertise strengthens local partner leadership

  • Direct configuration avoids future technical issues

  • Preventive maintenance is most effective when systems reflect field operations

This approach demonstrated that EAM success depends not only on technology, but on collaboration and sustained partner involvement.

Training focused not only on how to use the system, but on why certain approaches matter. Discussions went beyond manufacturer-recommended tasks to explore how data could be used to understand second-order effects, such as how site conditions or usage patterns contribute to breakdowns over time. This helped users connect preventive maintenance planning to real operational outcomes, rather than treating it as a compliance exercise.

By the end of the visit, teams had a shared understanding of how EAM could support preventive maintenance, cost control, and day-to-day decision-making, reinforced through hands-on collaboration rather than remote guidance.
